What Is An Air Fryer, Anyway?

An air fryer is essentially a small, turbo-powered convection oven for your kitchen counter. On how do air fryers work; it speedily circulates hot air around food to cook it quickly. While the air fryer has a removable basket like a deep fryer, instead of submerging the food into hot oil, the items in the basket are baked by the heat from air flowing around them. This handy appliance claims to mimic the results of deep frying with nothing more than hot air and a tiny amount of oil.

Does the Air Fryer Make Food Healthier?

Studies show that eating fried foods may be associated with numerous adverse effects on health. Although air-fried foods may be healthier than deep-fried foods, it’s important to remember that they are similar to fried food when cooking with oil and fried foods are similar to conventionally fried foods when cooking with oil and eating them on a regular basis.
As for our initial inquest ‘Are air fryers healthy‘ -well, plain and simple, you’ll be the judge of that depending of what and how you cook it. One thing is for sure, frying still isn’t the healthiest cooking method.

How Much Does an Air Fryer Cost?

Besides learning how do air fryers work, it is essential for many to know how much is too much when it comes to buying one. The pricey side of home appliances, air fryers can be found between $100 and $300 depending on size and features. I’ve researched and compiled the best air fryers that are great to choose from based on Size, Purpose, Extras and of course Price.

Does an Air Fryer Cook Food Faster?

One of the things people rave on how do air fryers work -is that cooking times are much faster in an air fryer than in your big kitchen oven or smaller toaster oven. Air frying isn’t as fast as a microwave, but it won’t make your bread or reheated fries soggy.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that because most devices cook 1 to 3 pounds of food at a time, it can be challenging to air-fry meals for a large family.

Do Air Fryers Really Make Food Crispy?

The answer is yes; the air fryer is essentially an amped-up countertop convection oven. Its compact space facilitates even faster cooking. The top of the unit holds a heating mechanism and a fan. Hot air rushes down and around food placed in a fryer-style basket. This rapid circulation makes the food crisp, much like deep frying.

What Else Can You Make in an Air Fryer?

Any foods you’re used to frying, like potatoes and chicken, generally turn out really well in the air fryer. Air-frying is a great way to crisp up veggies and make them tastier -this is great for kids who are picky eaters. Others also thinks that breaded foods are by far the most successful things to cook in an air fryer.
The air fryer also excels at reheating foods that have already been baked or air-fried. This is an easy, quick way to breathe new life into chicken cutlets whose breading has softened up after a night in the refrigerator, that last handful of fries you brought home from the diner, or even a few hot dogs.

Air Fryer Recipes

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
Making sweet potato fries in the air fryer is so much healthier than frying, and reduces the fat and calories, without sacrificing taste.

  • Begin by making sure you cut them all the same size. This way, everything cooks at the same time, without burning, overcooking or under-cooking some.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket. One small sweet potato will fit perfect but if it’s slightly larger, do them in batches. To make sure they are all hot at the same time, you can add the batches that are cooked back in the air fryer and heat them up 1 minute so everything is hot.
  • Don’t forget to turn them halfway. This is a must, the heat on the bottom is stronger than the top so turning is a must.
  • Open to test for doneness. Don’t be afraid to open the air fryer to check to see if they are done. If your fries are cut a little thicker, they will take longer to cook.
  • Bake at 400F. Enjoy!
